The Kyu Ranks (under black belt).:

• Hachikyu: Yellow Belt 8th Kyu
• Shichikyu: Orange Belt 7th Kyu
• Rokkyu: Purple Belt 6th Kyu
• Gokyu: Blue Belt 5th Kyu
• Yonkyu: Green Belt 4th Kyu
• Sankyu: 3rd Brown Belt
• Nikyu: 2nd Brown Belt
• Ikkyu: 1st Brown Belt

Dan Ranks (degrees of black belts):

• Shodan: 1st Dan
• Nidan: 2nd Dan
• Sandan: 3rd Dan
• Yodan: 4th Dan
• Godan: 5th Dan
• Rokudan: 6th Dan
• Shichidan: 7th Dan (Red and white section belt)
• Hachidan: 8th Dan (Red and white section belt)
• Kudan: 9th Dan (Red Belt)
• Judan: 10th Dan (Red Belt)
